Recently, 71 units of 18m hybrid city buses ZK6180CHEVG1 self-developed and well-built by Yutong have been put into operation on Zhengzhou BRT routes, which are also the first batch of hybrid city buses under demonstration run both in China and in the world.

Adopted the new mechanism of non-AMT series-parallel hybrid system, advanced whole vehicle control technology, engine intelligent stop/start technology, efficient energy management and recycling technology as well as body lightweight technology, the bus model can achieve optimization of whole vehicle energy management, thus making the vehicle more efficient and energy-saving. During the operation of the vehicle, the engine stops working at the red traffic lights and starts with pure electric direct drive. When the vehicle speed reaches 20km/h and above, the engine will start quickly. The mechanical energy collected during the braking and taxiing will be transformed into electric energy and stored in the energy storage device.

The bus model has been listed in the Recommended Directory of Fuel-saving & New Energy Automobiles designated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and won the bidding of Recommended Project of Subsidized Hybrid City Buses, becoming the only 18m hybrid bus product in the project. 

The overall performance of these jumbo hybrid buses goes well after being put into operation. The average fuel consumption per one hundred kilometer is 38.7 liters and the fuel-saving rate reaches 35.9 percent. Such a single vehicle, in one-year period, will save cost by over 100,000 yuan, reduce carbon emissions by about 44.8 tons and cut PM2.5 emissions by about 10 kilos.
